SUMMARY
I am a passionate flutist and educator with over two decades of experience in live performance and recording classical, jazz, and world music. I am at home performing with orchestras, wind ensembles, big bands, jazz combos, as well as Latin, fusion, and electronic ensembles. I also record from my studio for projects in the U.S. and abroad. My primary interest in research/performance is the fusion of Western Classical traditions with ethnic sounds and technology. As an educator, I aim to help students find their own artistic voice through the exploration of performance techniques, genres, and cultures.

DANCE OF THE BLESSED SPIRITS
By Christoph Willibald Gluck, The Dance of the Blessed Spirits is part of the opera Orfeo ed Euridice. This recording is a collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
CHAMBACU THOUGHTS
This is an improvisation/arrangement based on Chambacu by Totó ‘La Momposina’; a tune inspired in a small town in Northern Colombia with a rich African heritage. This piece features the classical alto and concert flutes, as well as Gaitas de Jan Jacinto (Native Colombian flutes), Cumbia drums, and a rhythm section.
INTO THE MIST
This is a composition for bass flute and electronics. This version mixes contemporary flute techniques with music production elements. I was driving early on a Fall Sunday morning. The fog was so thick, it wouldn’t allow visibility for more than a few feet. As the sun rose, the mist merged into natures’ green and the dew magically took over. It was a bit of a scary drive, but also an incredible taste of the miracles we can find in nature everyday!
LOVE IN A FAIRY LAND
I arranged this traditional Chinese tune to include harmony, improvisation, and to feature the pipa and dizi. Playing the pipa is Mei YuXin.
PRENDE LA VELA
This is a fusion arrangement of a traditional tune from the Pacific coast of Colombia with modern instruments and jazz elements. In this arrangement you will hear concert flute, gaitas de San Jacinto, and an Electronic Wind Instrument.
REMOTE RECORDING
This is an example of the work I do from my home studio.
REMOTE RECORDING
These are examples of the remote recording and productions I work on from my studio.
My One and Only Love: Arranged by Kyle Gordon. I recorded the flue part and was recording and mixing engineer for the project
Deusa do Meu Carnaval: I co-produced/arranged this track and recorded melodica and flutes for a Brazilian band called Brasuka.
Where in The World: By Richard Jacques. Recorded the flute track to be mixed later on with members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
WORKING WITH A STUDENT
The idea for this project was to explore the genre of Brazilian Choro and learn about studio recording practices. Brandon is graduating this year from Prairie View A&M and preparing to attend the Boston Conservatory of Music in the Fall as a master’s student.
SUMMER PRACTICE
This is a zoom recording from a series of practice sessions I had during the Pandemic with my students to keep the practice bug alive! Definitively not an exciting video, but one that shows some of the practice techniques that mix traditional the French Flute School exercises with improvisation.
Thank you for watching!
